BabyIQ is a flashcard app for parents: it plans and runs short reading and math flash sessions and tracks progression for the parent. The app is used by the parent — it never tests, evaluates, or collects behavioural data from the child. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the rights you have under the GDPR.
What We Collect
Identity and contact: your name and email address.
Child profiles: a first name and birthdate per child, provided by you, used only to plan age-appropriate decks and pick a reading language. You may optionally add a photo for a child profile; if you do, the image is stored on our file provider (Cloudflare R2) and shown only inside your account. Adding a photo is never required, and you can remove it at any time. We collect no audio recordings and no other data about your child.
Content: the decks assigned to each child and the session logs the app records for you (which cards were shown and when).
Purchase and billing: payment records handled by Apple In-App Purchase (iOS) or Stripe (Android/web). We do not receive or store your full card number.
Usage and technical: IP address, device/browser data, logs, diagnostics, and privacy-respecting product-usage analytics (via PostHog) used to understand and improve how the app is used.
Why We Use It (Legal Bases)
We process your data to create and secure your account, store and sync your content across devices, and process payments (performance of our contract with you); to provide support, prevent abuse, and improve product quality (our legitimate interests); and to keep records required by law (legal obligation). Optional features such as a child photo rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by removing the photo.
Who We Share It With
We use service providers to operate BabyIQ: Convex (backend/database), Cloudflare R2 (file storage), Apple and Stripe (payments), an email provider (transactional email), and PostHog (analytics). They act as our processors under their own security and privacy commitments. We do not sell your data or your child's data, and we show no advertising.
Children's Privacy
BabyIQ is intended for parents and other adults — it is not directed to children and is not a child-facing service. A child never signs in, never interacts with data collection, and is never tested or profiled. The only child data we hold is the minimal profile you choose to provide (first name, birthdate, and an optional photo). If you believe a child has provided us personal data directly, contact us and we will delete it.
Data Retention
We keep account and content data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your children's profiles, decks, session logs, and any photos within a reasonable period, except where the law requires us to retain certain records (e.g. billing).
Your Rights
Under the GDPR you may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy (portability) of your personal data, and you may object to or ask us to restrict certain processing. You can delete your account directly from the app's settings, or exercise any right by contacting hello@babyiqapp.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).
International Transfers
Some providers may process data outside your country. Where that happens, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit and at rest. No online system is fully secure.
Independence & Trademarks
BabyIQ is an independent app inspired by widely published early-learning principles popularized by Glenn Doman. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to Glenn Doman's family, the Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential (IAHP), or Doman International. Any references to the Doman method or related names are used solely to describe the approach factually; all such names and marks belong to their respective owners.
Changes
We may update this policy as needed. The latest posted version controls, and we will update the effective date above.
